Pontiac, MI (July 25, 2016)- The Michigan Bucks learned this morning that they will be hosting the Premier Development League (PDL) North American Semi Final match up with the Midland-Odessa Sockers FC on Saturday at Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac (7:30 PM kick off). General admission tickets will be available at the door for only $6 for adults and youth. Children under 5 are free. The Bucks are the two time reigning PDL Regular Season champions and came into this year’s post season as the #1 seed in the tournament. The Sockers FC finished as the runner up in the Mid-South Division but won the Southern Conference championship on Saturday when they moved past the OKC Energy U23 in penalty kicks after a scoreless draw. The Bucks defeated both teams from the Heartland Division in Thunder Bay and Des Moines in back to back shutouts to win their record seventh Central Conference title, putting them into the PDL Final Four for the seventh time in the team’s twenty one year history.

Both teams come together for the first time in history coming from very different resumes. Midland-Odessa started in the PDL in 2009 and this is their third trip to the playoffs in eight seasons. The Bucks have a bit more experience in playoff soccer having qualified for the post season a staggering 19 times in 21 years. The Bucks last hosted the Final Four in 2014, where the ended the season with their second overall PDL North American championship by defeating the Kitsap Pumas, 1-0. That tournament was also played at Ultimate Soccer Arenas, where the Bucks have been perfect this season. In addition to posting an undefeated home record with nine wins (including last weekend’s two playoff games), the Bucks have yet to be scored upon at home this season.

In the other semi final to be played earlier on Saturday, the #2 seed Ocean City Nor’easters will host the #3 seed Calgary Foothills U23 at Tennessee Avenue Soccer Complex in New Jersey at 5:00 PM. It is most likely that the Bucks and Sockers will know who punched their ticket first to these years final to be played on Saturday, August 6 before they even kick off and there is a potential the winner could know whether they host or travel shortly at the end of the game at Ultimate Soccer Arenas.
