The Cedar Rapids Rampage begin their 20-game slate tonight at the US Cellular Center in downtown Cedar Rapids with their historic home opener against the St. Louis Ambush. The match will be the first ever professional soccer contest held in Cedar Rapids.
Rampage head coach Jeff Kraft and general manager Chris Kokalis have been busy building the roster for the team’s first campaign. Cedar Rapids’ inaugural game day roster consists of nine indoor soccer veterans including Corey Adamson, team captain Carlos “Chile” Farias, Sam Guernsey, Steven Hamersky, Kevin Jackson, Alex Megson, Hewerton Moreira, Armando Tello and Alex Tozer. In addition to the nine veterans, the roster includes 11 rookies.
“We’re happy to bring this exciting brand of soccer to eastern Iowa,” Kokalis stated. “Soccer is the fastest growing sport in this country and we think you’ll enjoy the indoor soccer product.”
The St. Louis Ambush are coached by indoor soccer veteran Daryl Doran. The 2015-2016 season marks 15 years of coaching for Doran after an illustrious playing career. Between 1982-1999, Doran appeared in 827 games, the most of any player in American indoor soccer history. The Ambush return 17 players from their 2014-2015 season.
The match begins tonight at 7:05pm at the US Cellular Center. Doors will open for season ticket holders at 5:55pm and the general public at 6:05pm. Great seats are still available and can be purchased through the US Cellular Center Box Office.
